Zimbabwe

National Brewery, Zambezi Premium Lager (Zimbabwe)
Brewed from local malted barley, Zambezi is one of Zimbabwe's biggest selling beers. It has a medium gold colour and thin white head. The nose is instantly reminiscent of Tennent's lager (this is not necessarily a compliment) with an added dimension of sweetcorn aroma and a touch of toastiness. On the palate it is quite light and lively, with a citrussy profile, a decent hop level and a nicely bitter finish. There's something a bit flat about this undistinguished beer, which is OK, rather than anything special. 4.7% ABV, 33cl, £1.09, Onlyfinebeer, Peckhams, Pierhead.
